AGRICULTURE IN THE YEAR 2020 - THE CHALLENGES ARE ENORMOUS!

Every day, 200,000 people are born into this world. People who want to live and therefore need good nutrition - organic products, but also increasingly refined foods such as meat, eggs and milk products.

This presents new challenges for agriculture - challenges that are characterized by the megatrends for mankind, but also by fundamental shortages:

the area of available arable land, whether as a basis for organic foods or as feed; water, a limiting factor for arability in many regions; and last but not least the foreseeable limited fossil energy resources.

Therefore, we need efficient, productive and progress-oriented agriculture throughout Europe to help increase the potentials of the global agricultural regions.

An essential point of departure is the implementation and exploitation of technological progress, because the challenges of the future cannot be met with the instruments of the past - innovations are needed!

And this is exactly where the CASE IH Agrifuture Contest for pupils of agricultural vocational schools  and young people throughout Europe comes into the picture.
